sorry for not posting anything lately. HM has taken a wee break from her dog art to focus on other things. I've been hanging out - running at the dog park and being my normal handsome devil self! BOL!

Anyway - here is a portrait of an Australian Cattle Dog she completed back in August. This piece is 30" x 30" and for sale.

Hey pups! Guess who's back? ME! HM has unfortunately been sick since she got back from vacation - so I've been taking care of her and making sure she gets lots of snuggles from me!

I had a pawesome week of spoiling while she was away - but was very happy to see her and get back to my dog friends at the park! So HM - as sick as she feels has been taking me to the park every day to get some running in! Yay!

Just wanted to let you all know - I'm still here - just taking a bit of a blogging break. No news is good news. HM is super busy at work - we're back training with agility and she's taking vacation in early March too! So, I'll be at HG's (Human Gramma) that week for some super spoiling! Arooooo!

I'm doing a demo this Saturday with my Fast n' Furry dog sport demo team - so hopefully we'll get some photos or video to post at the end of the weekend!

Meet Oliver. He's a Vizsla. We used to play almost every night at the local dog park until he and his human dad moved out of the neighbourhood.

So we've had a coldsnap here and as much as I LOVE being outside at the park...I've got very short fur, that is quite sparse on my legs and belly....so I shiver and ask to come home more quickly than I like to. So what's a dog to do?

Get some fleece PJ's!! (or body suit as I like to call it...a bit more "manly!")

HM found a wonderful lady who makes them for dogs, and ordered one up for me! She took my measurements and custom fit it just for me!

I'm super cozy warm now!!

OMD! Something furtastic happened yesterday for HM and myself! We were photographed for the local paper! HM is exhibiting her work again this weekend at PawsWay - and one of the local papers, the Toronto Sun, was doing an article about the event and interview HM!!! Then they sent a photographer to our apartment to take pictures of her work...and of ME!!

I was such a good dog, as I only barked at the photographer once! Check out the funny photo the photographer took of me.

Hey pups - just wanted to bark to you about two great sites. This holiday season especially can be tough for pets in need and if you wanted to help make the season bright, a donation to either of these groups would be FURTASTIC!

The Morris Animal Foundation has launched an unprecedented $30 million effort to cure canine cancer within a dog's lifetime – the next 10 to 20 years. World–renowned veterinary scientists and cancer specialists agree that this MAF–led effort will not only save countless dogs from suffering and premature death, but should also help produce breakthroughs in the prevention, treatment, and cures of human cancers – in particular childhood cancers.

The Banfield Pet Hospital is a private veterinary practice with hospitals located in many communities across the country. Central to their mission is a commitment to providing quality, loving and wise care to Pets and their owners.

Banfield has teamed up with the Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) for a national Pet food drive called Season of Suppers. Twelve Beds of Christmas charity auction for the Toronto Humane Society

Last night HM attended the 2nd Annual, Twelve Beds of Christmas set up by local pet boutique, Timmie Doggie Outfitters.

The owners, Paul and George got some great artists and designers to create 12 beds to auction off for the Toronto Humane Society! We LOVE Timmie's, and got there at least once a week for some yummy treats! Here are some of the pawesome beds from last night!

Not much is going on these days, I went hiking with Denali and Starr..but still waiting for HM to download pics from the camera. Agility was pretty awesome this week, we are doing more sequencing and HM is trying to figure out good positioning because apparently I'm a pretty fast dog! I spent the night on Monday with my human grandpawrents, and will be back to visit on the weekend! My human Gramma is PAWESOME!! She certainly spoils me with nice Gramma goodies and I get to sleep in her bed under the duvet!! Whooo-hoo!!! I love watching Wheel of Fortune with my human Grandpa too. He loves that show! BOL!

Hey pups, I'm starting a new feature here: Etsy Love! Since HM has signed up on this pawesome site, we thought we'd share some other FURTASTIC pet-related shops!

First up: Lodi and Lewi They categorize themselves as a shop with dog and people gear! And what did HM buy from them? PEOPLE GEAR!! Hrmpf. But I admit, HM needs nice things too once in a while!

Here's their Key Loop. It's for human keys and fits around the wrist for quick walks to the park without needing a purse! The colours are so vibrant (which as you know HM loves things that POP!) Howlowe'en is only a day away! Are you pups dressing up and going out?

The Spaw Boutique where I go for doggie daycare sometimes is having a costume contest! So of course HM decided to get me a costume to enter! There is also a costume party happening at PawsWay on Saturday! Arrrooooo! I love to party!

Here's a teaser of me in my costume...can you pups guess what I am?? I'll give you a clue: I enjoy a jolly good time and am known world wide, as I am an avid traveler!

R.I.P. Digger

Today is a sad day. A fellow Manchester, Ch Jumpstart Trick or Treat, or as we all knew him Digger, passed away suddenly early Sunday morning. Digger was a faithful companion to his humans and will be sorely missed.

His human mom Cindy and Digger competed in agility together, and they are one of the teams that inspired HM to get me involved in agility. She saw them compete at the 2007 AAC Agility Nationals when it was in Ontario. They competed in the Veterans class.

They were an amazing team to watch, no matter the venue. Digger was up for any challenge and always performed with his whole heart.

Digger accomplished many things in his life, some of which include:

Canadian Championship (Ch)
Pre-Companion Dog (PCD)
Companion Dog (CD)
CKC Agility Dog Excellent (AgX)
AAC Masters Dog in all events
Competed at the AAC Nationals
A member of the SuperDogs Team

Hey pups! I started blogging over a year ago, and I am always happy when I get pups and people leaving me comments and knowing that something I've posted has resonated with someone in the blogosphere.

I've received some pawesome products to try, HM has gotten some books to read...and I've even had some fan mail!!

YES! Last week I received a furtastic email from Ollie, a 5 year old Mannie from Atlanta:

Hello, Simba! My name is Micka's Oliver Wendell Holmes (but you can call me Ollie). I'm a 5 year old Standard Manchester Terrier. I live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA with my mom and my sister, Angie. My mom's a two-legger. My sister is a 3 year old Doberman Pinscher. Mom's at work right now, so I've snuck on to her computer to play on the internet. I love searching for other Manchester Terriers online. That's how I found your blog! I just loved your "edumacation" about Dobermans, Chesters and MinPins. Every time we go to the dog park, people ask if Angie is my MOTHER. UGH! Mom has to show them my grey muzzle and explain that I'm older, and that I'm a pure bred, AKC registered Manchester Terrier. No one seems to know what we Chesters are! Mom has even made me a T-Shirt that says "I am NOT a MinPin!" But I really hate to wear it. I prefer to show off my glossy black coat.

Anyway, I just wanted to say "Hi!" and to thank you for the blog. I'll bookmark it on Mom's computer - maybe when she finds it, she'll send a link to all her friends and "edumacate" them, too!

It's Thanksgiving up here in Canada today! So I wanted to write a small post and just THANK all my blog readers for tuning in to read the Pop Dog Blog! THANK YOU ALL!!!

I've met some really cool pups and really enjoy following all your blogs too!!

So in continuation of my great Dogs Rule Day yesterday, we're headed to HM's parents where I hope to get some TURKEY and other goodies given to me when HM isn't looking! Hehehe.

Tuesdays are my usual Agility night, but my instructor Brandi was away today...but HM didn't want us to simply take the night off! So what did we do? Agility training on the go!

Hey everypup!

HM has FINALLY photographed and started uploading her new keychains on our Etsy page! Feel free to sniff around, shop and pass it on!!

New breeds to be added every week!! We are trying to represent as many pure-breeds as we can first, then add some of the new designer hybrids (Goldendoodle, Shih-poo, etc.) and sports related keychains (for agility, flyball, disc, etc.). So just keep checking back.

HM decided to create these as she couldn't find too many Manchester Terrier accessories! So she made her own! She has been busy making all these by hand - designing them, then printing and cutting and assembling them all on her own!

Manchester's Rocked at the FCI Agility World Championships!

Finally found some video on the two Manchester Terrier's that competed at the FCI AWC last weekend!

BIG CONGRATS to Stephanie Tiemann and Chilly for winning a silver medal in the Medium Individual class!! WHOOOO-HOOOOO!!! You are a team HM and I aspire to be like!! You can see more of this team at their YouTube page HERE!

Another team was from the Czech Republic: Eva Sulcova and Jimy. They had a bobble, but represented well!!! There were only 2 Manchester Terrier's out of the WHOLE field of dogs!! (mostly made up of Border Collies and Shelties!)

The courses were really tricky with lots of twists and turns!! Congrats to all the dogs and handlers who competed!!

So we are home and tired from a long weekend at the exhibit, but had a furtastic time! I met lots of doggies and HM enjoyed talking about her paintings and getting a nice response to her new all-breed key chains!

My human Gramma and our friend Jen and her Toy Manchester Hamlet came to visit us today and keep us company too. They took pics on their cameras..so when we get those, we'll post..but in the mean time, HM took some on her cell phone.

Busy Week!

Well, not for me..but for HM...she's going to be exhibiting her Pop Dog Portraits this weekend at PawsWay!! So this week she's been busy meeting local clients to borrow their portaits she did of them to display at the show. I've been tagging along for the car rides, and getting to meet some of the lucky pups she's painted!

She's also been making dog-breed key chains to sell at the show too! She'll post more about that soon, as she'll be making them available on Etsy soon!!

I started agility again this week! YAAAAY!!! I love agility, and my trainer Brandi ROCKS!! We did some small sequences this week (jump, tunnel, table, jump and A-frame!) I did really well! We're also starting to learn the the dog walk!!

Meet My Pal Bronson!

I had a play date today with another Manchester Terrier named Bronson!

He has cropped ears, and I have natural ears!

Bronson has nice chest rosettes. Mine faded away. :o(

We went to Toto Dog Park in Mississauga, Ontario. What a furtastic dog park! It was fully fenced, with a huge field, a wooded area and an agility field!

Please Help! These Older Manchester Terriers Need a New Home!! ASAP!!

Hey pups...today is a bit of a sad post...but I'm hoping one of you out there will be able to help!!!

There are two older Manchesters that need a new home! They are 10 years old. Male (Muchochi) and Female (Cricket).

They currently live in Mount Forest, Ontario (Just north of Toronto).

Unfortunately, the owner is giving them up. Saddest thing is she is choosing not to have them. She has bought new house and does not feel they will do very well there without giving them a chance.

The male is suppose to be pretty good. He lived in Toronto for about 2 years in an apartment before she got him. He gets along with other dogs. Was use to playing with a eighty pound mix breed. The female is more aloof. Had some obedience training in his first home. Is crate trained. Both the female and male have no health problems that she knows of. She would prefer a farm home as the dogs were outside most of the time. They are use to horses and cows. Not good with cats or children.

They are scared of Thunderstorms.

Her favourite things about them are that they are great company and watchdogs. They don't like to be picked up too quickly, or pet too quickly. They could snap if you do so.
She also feels that sometimes they bark too much. That is about all that I know about them.

Seriously...if you or anyone you know thinks they can help, by either taking them in, even temporarily until a fur-ever home can be found, PLEASE send me an email and let me know! THANKS!!

So the new "un-official" dog park near our apartment is a fully fenced ball park. IT ROCKS!! There is lots of action every night with some great dogs! Meet my pal Dude. Dude is a Goldendoodle (even though he looks mostly retriever).

We have become great friends! He loves to play "catch me if you can" and we just have lots of fun together!

HM got some video of us together...we got a hold of a water bottle and were playing tug of war with it.

Dog Show Fun...Without ME!

HM went to a dog show today...without ME! Whatever..I went to HG's (Human Gramma!) house and had fun without her!

So anyway, here are some pics she came back with. She apologizes as she only had her cell phone to take pics with. She said she fell in love with a few breeds and is thinking I need a fur-sib next year. We'll see.

Her favourites? The German Shorthaired Pointer, Saluki, Blue Picardy Spaniel, Irish Terrier, Brussels Griffon and the Norfolk Terrier.

HM and I spent a pawtastic afternoon at the new PawsWay Pet Discovery Centre! It's dog-friendly and has LOTS of cool information and interactive activities for humans and dogs! The Purina Canada Pet Hall of Fame is located there too!

Labour Day at the Beach!

What a great way to spend the long weekend Monday! Denali, Starr and I had our humans take us to the beach today!!

We spent the afternoon frolicking and sniffing LOTS of dogs and dipping our toes in the water too!

Dog Park Redemption!

So....HM was in a good mood...she took me BACK to Trinity Bellwoods off leash dog park! She felt she wanted to see if I could redeem myself, and have a good experience, and also to work on our recalls from a play group.

We went early in the morning, thinking there might be a smaller amount of dogs, and an easier time to do some training in the park with the distractions.

She was VERY happy with me! When I was playing or running with another pup, and she called me (or whistled or used my squeaky Wubba) to get my attention, I came back and got a nice treat or tug of the Wubba for it! We didn't stay long, as she wanted to leave on a good note, before it got too busy. But all the dogs were really good...so that helped me be good too! I romped with a couple of Chocolate Labs, a Doberman, a Husky (who was a little naughty...so HM made me keep my distance from her) and some cool "all-Canadian" mixes.

Yay! I love the dog park and socializing, so I know we'll be back!
